We have an exciting opportunity to join our Technical team in the role of Chemist.

Our Chemists work closely with the sales and production teams, alongside suppliers to manage development projects from initial concept to final approval and production into the marketplace.

The main duties of the role are:

  • Assist in the development of new products, ensuring planning your own experiments and project work in line with innovation priorities.

  • Scale up own formulations.

  • Supervise production batches when required.

  • Screen new raw materials from suppliers and test them in existing formulations.

  • Liaise closely with sales and production teams to update and be updated with any formulation changes or requirements.

  • Produce weekly reports on current projects and raw material testing.

  • Responsible for the ordering of lab consumables.

  • Quality control of in production batches when required.

  • Cover for any staff holidays/sickness.

  • Assist in general duties when required.

To be successful in the role you must:

  • Be qualified to degree level in Chemistry – ideally polymer based.

  • Knowledge of specifications, regulations and technical writing would be beneficial but not essential.

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing and lab environment would be advantageous.

  • Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office software and Sage (preferred but not essential).

  • Have a positive, professional, and proactive can-do attitude.

  • Have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with a methodical approach to work.

  • Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.

  • Be self-motivated with the ability to use own initiative.

  • Have confidence in making decisions.

  • Demonstrate an ability to problem solve and use own initiative.

  • Have the ability to work on multiple projects and issues simultaneously to meet deadlines.
